A Bright Summer Refreshment

Not a big fan of vintage China?
Don't worry, we have you covered.

This summer we are thrilled to introduce a new collection of gift packages with precious hand blown glass by accomplished artists, Elizabeth Curry and Mitchell Wren, of the Memoria Vitria
Each piece is made exclusively for Cookies in a Cup, in time-honoured traditional methods in the artisan community of Granville Island, Vancouver, B.C.
Since the glass is hand blown, there will be a slight variation of colour and shape, which makes each glass truly an art piece of its own.  Each is signed by the artists.

A simple and timeless design with a sense of pureness.
Available in gem-like colour such as Amethyst, Amber, Summer Green, and Sky Blue.
You will want to collect them all!

When many things are made to be broken nowadays, these beautiful glasses are definitely created for keepsake and long time admiration.
After you or your loved ones enjoy our delicious cookies,
this versatile glass bowl can double up as a container for anything from food to your beloved jewellery,
as a bright addition to any decor, as a vase, and more...
Let your imagination run free.

And did we mention our very own Fresh Strawberry Apple Rose Petals Tea?

A precise blend made up of strawberries, rose petals, and apples.
Caffeine free.
The heavenly, sweet aroma is perfect for summer!

Confirmation Celebration

Our latest creation for the Confirmation Celebration on May 5, 2010,
for the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish.

Each cookie was unique, engraved with the name of one of the Confirmation Candidates.
The letter puzzle seemed to take forever but the result was splendid.
And to see the smile on the youngsters' faces, it was priceless :)

Here are some pictures we received from the parents.

Our Winning Cookies!

What a good way to start the month!
Congrats to Angel, the magic hands behind our cookies.
Her organic cookie recipe has won the second place for the Breakfast Cookie catagory
in the 2010 Healthy Baking Competition on May 1st, 2010.
The contest was presented by Rogers Foods Ltd.,
and was one of the awesome features of the 18th Annual Wellness Show in Vancouver.

Organic unsalted butter, organic sugar, Omega 3 eggs,
real vanilla beans, unbleached flour...only the best, natural ingredients.
Healthy baking that does not compromise great taste (and good looks).

Congrats again to Angel :)

Spread the Words!

We just received a hearty note from Lisa Cohen and Bea Nohr, the Auction Chairs of the OLPH Friday Night Fusion event.  We would like to share the happy words with everyone:

To our fabulous auction committee,

What a great event! Thank you all for helping put together such an amazing auction. We have been hearing all weekend from people saying how wonderful everything looked and what a great number, variety and quality of auction items we had. That is all due to all your hard work over these last few months and the herculian effort you put into getting it all ready in just a few short hours we had in the venue. Our children are so lucky to be part of such a great community at OLPH, where families come together to help out in all ways.

We were very fortunate to have such a great group of parents helping us this year and wanted to let you know as the committee chairs that we are very grateful and appreciative of or for all you have done.

We hope you all got a well deserved rest this weekend and that you were able to enjoy yourself on Friday.

Thank you so much,
Bea and Lisa

The Saint Francis of Assisi Fundraising Event

We are happy to report that Cookies in a Cup has donated over 150 gifts to the Saint Francis of Assisi Parish (SFA) fundraising to install wheelchair facilities in the school library and computer lab for students in need.

Teamed up with Cookies in a Cup, the Chang family from Vancouver was able to raise $1,926 for the school's wheelchair accessibility project.  This  amount alone has accounted for over 10% of the school's goal!  Most donations came from the ICBC and BC Hydro employees; their tremendous supports have touched our hearts deeply.

The Changs (April 17, 2010) "Thank you for your generous support in donating well over 150 gifts for the Saint Francis of Assisi fundraising to make our school library and computer lab wheelchair accessible for a student in need. We received many comments from people who donated. They not only thought your gifts were delicious, but also unique in presentation and a lovely way to send a message......It never ceases to amaze us that people are genuinely generous when it comes to helping others in need. Thanks again, The Chang Family"

A cookie, even thousands of them, might not count for much.
It is a tender heart that gives a helping hand that means the most.
Our sincere gratitude to everyone who has given us support in this event :)

The OLPH 2nd Annual Friday Night Fusion - April 23th, 2010

In the backdrop of the beautiful Brock House in Vancouver, the Our Lady Perpetual Help School (The OLPH) 2nd Annual Friday Night Fusion was no doubt a great success.

Two minutes in the party, you would think you were in some gala in New York.
It was anything but an ordinary school party.
From the chic room décor, splendid flower arrangement...to the mouth-watering buffet,
everything simply said great taste.

And our stunning guests (and the ultra stylish outfits of the ladies!),
who were busy filling out forms for the silent auction all night,
whose generous support made everything possible.

Could not be without a big screen TV and cheering fans on a hockey night.

The live auction, another climax of the night.
Goodies included autographed jerseys, best seats to world-class concerts, Principal for a day (whoever came up with this one was a genius!), etc.

A super funny play by the school staff to welcome the new Principal, Mrs. Lora Clarke.

Yummy treats for the guests to take home, proudly presented by Cookies in a Cup!
Thanks again for the generous donation by Ms. Moira and Graham Nixon (see here)

A special thanks to the 2010 Friday Night Fusion Committee and all the volunteers!
For devoting their time and effort to making this event spectacular!

A Big Heart from Ladner

After we received a call from Ms. Moira Nixon from Ladner, B.C., our hearts were instantly filled with blessings and warmth.  Moira and her husband Graham would like to donate a number of vintage China cups and saucers to Cookies in a Cup for charity purpose.  As Moira remembered,

"These cups and saucers were part of my mother's China collection.  They dated from around 1965...and have been in storage for over 15 years.  My siblings and I decided to donate these to a worthy cause - something my mom would have liked to do!"

Some say it is a coincidence.  We say it is a little miracle created by a kind heart.  Moira's donation came just in time for the 2nd Annual Friday Fusion Night on April 23th hosted by the Our Lady of Perpetual Help School (OLPH), the very place where Moira and Graham were married in the summer of 1969!  In Moira's letter, she wrote:

To Our Lady of Perpetual Help School,

My youngest two sisters attended in the 1960's.  My baby sister lisped very badly and came running home from first day of kindergarten to say excitedly, "Mummy, my teacher is Thithter Grathe Thethelia!!  AKA Sister Grace Cecilia!"

My husband and I married at the OLPH on August 9, 1969.  Fr. Stephens and Fr. Claude Lemieux officiated with great excitement.  Parishioner Joan Banks hosted our wedding reception in her home.

~ Moria Nixon ne'e Crickmay and husband Graham, April 2010

As one of the sponsors of this Friday's fund raising event, Cookies in a Cup will present delicate gifts with the vintage cup and saucer sets from Moira's generous donation.  Also for the attending guests, there will be hundreds of beautifully wrapped cookies and sugar treats, all heavily loaded with great taste and love.  This is such a meaningful event and we are very proud to be part of it.  May we say it one more time,

Moira and Graham, we couldn't do this without you :)
